STANFORD MTB CLASSIC
-THE ROUTE-

This 2021 Stanford MTB Classic offers two fresh challenging distance options -  55km, and a 25km route incorporating exciting new sections while retaining the highlights from previous years. All the route distances start and finish at Stanford Valley Guest farm.

STANFORD MTB CLASSIC
55km Route | Elevation 1350m

The route starts at the picturesque Stanford Valley Guest farm, nestled in the valley of the Klein Rivier, 10km outside Stanford Village. Both the 25km and the 55km route will follow the same easterly direction heading out to the Lucern climb and Oak Grove in the direction of Vaalvlei and Modderrivier, where the first water point of the day will be. Riders will be before crossing under the R326 towards White Water and Bluegum Country Estate before turning back to Stanford Valley, where the 2nd water point of the day awaits.

The 55km route includes all the Top class newly built single tracks, connecting Stanford Valley Guest farm to Paardenberg. Riders will reach the top of the neck and View Point overlooking the coastline of Hermanus and as far as Cape point, before descending on newly established single tracks, all the way down to Paardenberg.

After a rejuvenating water point at Beloftebos, and a few playful single tracks including Oom Salie, riders will head up to a different network of trails. The 55km route will turn back to Stanford Valley following a single track, snaking up all the way to the top of the neck. On the descent riders will link up with a spectacular fynbos trail around the mast overlooking the Akkedisberg pass before an exhilarating finish.  An advanced trail that requires technical skill and a good level of fitness.

STANFORD MTB CLASSIC
25km Route | Elevation 500m

This is an easier, less technical route on open roads and jeep tracks mostly. This showcases the unique Klein river region in the Valley of Stanford. The route is a flowing scenic trail taking riders in a easterly direction towards the first climb up Lucern hill and descending into single tracks and trails down to Vaalvlei and Modderrivier - the first water point for the day. Beautiful surrounds of equestrian farms and mountain slopes will have riders smiling and returning to this part of the Overberg region. From there riders will be crossing under the R326 to the opposite side of the R326 leading to White Water Farm, Blue Gum and of course finishing at the extraordinary Stanford Valley Guest farm. This is the perfect route for beginners and riders new to mountain biking. An intermediate level of fitness required.
