We are presenting a weekend of pure Mountain Bike adventure riding, and a few surpising special additions to add to this boutique experience at the De Hoop Vlei MTB Experience.

Kicking off on Friday the 17th with a short Sunset Scramble warm-up ride of 12km starting at 4pm. Riding into a spectacular sunset where Bontebok perfects the picture of White dunes in the background. Riders pass the stunning new De Mond Lodge situated on the edge of the Vlei, and returns to De Hoop Opstal in a clockwise direction. A special start to a boutique weekend with great like-minded adventure riders!

SATURDAY LONG ROUTE 18 MAY 2024

STAGE 1 – RIDE THE ROCK

Start: 8h30 Distance: 59km Elevation approximately 1034m

This Route showcases the best of the De Hoop Collection MTB trails. The route includes custom made trails hugging the edge of the Ramsar Vlei. Prepare for a challenging and unique day on the trails that includes private land areas not usually accessible to the public, and some iconic limestone sections. A twist in the tail with the iconic Dennis the Menace climb towards the end of the day, before you reach the home coming sand dune views of De Hoop at the finish.

SUNDAY LONG ROUTE 19 MAY 2024

STAGE 2 – TRAILS TO WHALES

Distance: 62 km Elevation approximately : 800m

Potberg – Vaalkrans, and Koppie Alleen: The Route is a tough challenge that includes 3 steep climbs at The Tar Flatty in the beginning, the Vaalkrans cement climb up to the Ocean view point, and the final climb up to Morokuru beach lodge. A very special and unique route including a ride through a private wild camp just before Potberg, and stunning ocean views on the left of the De Hoop Nature Reserve.The weekend special activities will include fantastic Old School Live Music, a BOMA braai around an open fire with sunset views, sundowners on the Deck, wine tasting, and fabulous food and hospitality from De Hoop Collection.
